The Joy and Pain of
Studying abroad
In 2010, I came to the
U.S. for winter camp. I visited a few colleges and had some classes in
California. After that, I made a choice, it might one the most important
choices I will ever make in my life. I chose to come the U.S. for high school
and college. Currently, I feel like the choice is still successful. I started
to enjoy the feeling of studying in an American school. There are some
differences that I noticed between the schools. Let’s compare some subjects. In
the math class in China, teachers give a massive amount of homework in order to
make the students form the ability of solving the ability, but that makes a
mistake. Students will do their homework as fast as possible but not accurate.
In American schools, teachers give a little homework for students to finish
patiently in order to form their ability of being patient. That helps not only
the ability of doing math, but also the way of being a person which makes me
feel more successful as a learner.
I think Theater class
and Sculpture class really made me excited, because that is something that is
almost impossible to get in touch with in China. Theater class helps training
the students who are usually shy and unwilling to speak loudly, it builds their courage and changes their personality. Sculpture class is an
art class, and art comes from our life. So this class trains our creativity and
our way of enjoying our life. This is something that the schools in China need
to work on.
